Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 10, 2026
This policy explains what data BlogZ collects, why, and what control you have over it. The short version: we collect what we need to run a blogging community, we don't sell your data, and we don't show ads.
1. Data we collect
Account data
Name, email address, username, and a hashed password (we never store plaintext passwords). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and avatar from Google.
Profile and content
Anything you choose to publish: posts, drafts, comments, likes, bookmarks, follows, group memberships, event RSVPs, display name, bio, location, website, and images you upload.
Messages
Direct messages are stored so we can deliver them. They are private to the participants; our staff does not read them except where required to investigate abuse reports or comply with law.
Technical data
Standard request logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) for security, rate limiting, and debugging; bot-protection signals from Cloudflare Turnstile on sign-up and sign-in.
2. How we use data
- To provide the Service: hosting your content, feeds, notifications, messaging.
- To secure it: authentication, spam and abuse prevention, rate limiting.
- To communicate: verification codes, password resets, and service notices by email.
- Writing assistance: if you use the optional AI assist while writing, the text you select is sent to Anthropic to generate suggestions. It is not used to train models and is not stored by us beyond the request.
We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Who processes your data
We use a small set of infrastructure providers (processors):
- Cloudflare — hosting, storage, CDN, and bot protection.
- Resend — transactional email delivery (verification codes, password resets).
- Anthropic — optional AI writing assistance.
- PostHog (EU) — product analytics, only when you accept analytics cookies. Sends interaction events (page and post views, likes, follows, group joins, notification opens) to PostHog Cloud in the European Union. You can revoke consent from the cookie preferences at any time.
3a. Product analytics
When you accept product analytics in the cookie banner, we send anonymized interaction events to PostHog to help us improve the product — measuring which features are used, which posts get read, and where users get stuck. We do not use this data for advertising or share it with third-party marketing tools.
We also record a small number of transactional server events (account creation, email verification, moderator actions) regardless of your cookie choice. These are operational records, not tracking, and are stored alongside our own service logs.
4. Retention
Account and content data is kept while your account is active. When you delete content or your account, it is removed from the live service immediately and from routine backups within a limited period. Security logs are retained briefly and then discarded.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. under GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can edit your profile and delete your posts directly in the app, and you can contact us at info@blogz.life to exercise any other right. We respond within 30 days.
6. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies, primarily an essential session cookie to keep you signed in. Details, and your consent choices, are in our Cookie Policy.
7. Children
BlogZ is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child is using the Service, contact us and we will remove the account.
8. Changes and contact
We will notify you of material changes to this policy before they take effect. Questions or requests: info@blogz.life.
